Dr. Clifford Larson
May 30, 2016 – May 16, 1930
Pastor Larson went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2016, a week after his 86th birthday. He was born in Minnesota, on May 16th, 1930. As a young man he felt the call of God into missions work and attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis. While serving as the pastor at a church in Bagley, Minnesota, he met and married his wife JoAnn who also felt called to missions work.
After pastoring several churches, in 1956 Clifford and JoAnn set sail for Montevideo, Uruguay, to begin a new life as missionaries. They ultimately served there for 17 years, until 1973, starting several churches, a Bible training school, mentoring young pastors, and having two children
Upon returning to the States, Pastor Larson served as a pastor in Dalhart, TX. From Texas, they moved to Los Angeles, California, where he earned a Phd, and in 1977 began to pastor Immanuel Christian Assembly (ICA) in downtown LA. Clifford and Jan returned to South America in 1985, this time settling in Rosario, Argentina, where they spent four years teaching in the Seminario Biblico de Fe.
Upon their return to the United States, the Larsons moved to Big Bear, California to manage and construct a new lodge for Camp SaHaLe, owned by ICA. Clifford and Jan moved to Moreno Valley, continuing leadership of the ICA group, and teaching in Bible schools in Huntington Park, Mexico City, and beginning in 2000 – Southwest Bible College.
Pastor Larson loved teaching the Word and taught a number of classes for Southwest Bible College together with his wife JoAnn. A few of the classes he taught were as follows: General Epistles, Hermeneutics, Pentateuch, Church History, Survey of Biblical History, as well as a number of courses in Spanish. The College was so blessed to receive his excellent teaching ministry! His insights into the Word grew out of a lifetime of study, as well as ministry and missions experiences. Our students were so blessed to sit under his rich instruction of God’s Word!
In addition to his teaching, Pastor Larson was one of the founding board members of Southwest Bible College and served on the College Board from 2000 until 2010. The College is deeply grateful for his assistance in enabling the College to purchase three acres of property for the College through the primary assistance of Immanuel Christian Assembly as well as a number of other contributors.
The Larsons finally settled in Hemet, CA, in 1998, where they became active and beloved members of Hemet Christian Assembly, serving on the church board, leading Bible studies, home groups, visitation, and Our Brother’s Keeper ministry.
